Justin Butler is an award winning multi-instrumentalist, composer, and educator. Justin is the Director of Music Programs at Caldwell Community College and Teaching Artist at Appalachian State University. He also served on the music faculty at Milligan College for ten years where he taught guitar lessons and guitar pedagogy. Justin has performed at major venues and festivals across the USA, Canada, and Japan as well as live on WNCW-FM, CBS affiliate WJHL-TV, and WTBL-TV. Justin began his music studies at the age of ten, starting with guitar and saxophone, and later the piano. He began professionally performing at sixteen, playing solo guitar recitals, small ensemble performances, and with jazz combos.
Butler received music and academic scholarships to study music at The Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University, where he studied with Doug James and received an Undergraduate and Masters Degree in Music Performance. Justin also studied Suzuki method at the Hartt School and University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
Justin has had the honor to share the stage with such notable musicians as Katharine Whalen (of the Squirrel Nut Zippers), blues legend Etta Baker, Grammy award winning Damian Marley, The Gin Blossoms, The Wailers, Gregory Isaacs, Doug James, Andy Page, and Matt Palmer.
