Justin Butler is an award winning multi-instrumentalist, composer, and educator. Justin is the Director of Music Programs at Caldwell Community College and an Artist in Residence at Appalachian State University. He also served on the music faculty at Milligan College for ten years where he taught guitar lessons and guitar pedagogy. Justin has performed at major venues across the USA, Canada and Japan as well as live on WNCW-FM and CBS affiliate WJHL-TV. Justin began his music studies at the age of ten, starting with guitar and saxophone, and later the piano. He began professional performing at sixteen, playing solo guitar recitals, small ensemble performances and with jazz combos.
Butler received performance and academic scholarships to study music at The Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University, where he studied with Doug James and received an Undergraduate and Masters Degree in Music Performance. Justin also studied Suzuki method at the Hartt School and University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
Justin has shared the stage with such notable musicians as Doug James, Andy Page, Matt Palmer, Grammy award winning Damian Marley, blues legend Etta Baker, The Wailers and Gregory Isaacs.
